Geoff Johns has done it again. But this time he has ventured out on his own as the creator of Geiger 80-Page Giant #1 which is set to be released on the 2nd of February 2022.
There are five elements that each great comic book aims to achieve and Geiger 80-Page Giant #1 has touched on each of these five qualities.
Narrative
If there is one area where Geoff Johns shines, it’s through his narrative. He tells a series of compelling stories in the latest release by Mad Ghost Comics. The characters are rich, deep, vibrant, and diverse in the manner in which they are presented. This is evident by the fact that the reader is able to understand and be clear about what is going on in the stories, at all times. Geoff Johns takes the reader on a journey of discovery, as the story unfolds, through easily recognizable characters.
Pacing
The pacing in his stories is easy to follow, making the reading experience that much more enjoyable. The visual layout of the stories aids in telling the story and creates emotional resonance with the reader. This is evident from the very first image and page. One thing that Geoff Johns does NOT lack in pace and narrative is variety. It is the variety in his story-telling ability that makes this comic book so interesting to read.
Style
When it comes to style and matching the illustrations to the narrative, Geoff Johns has made excellent choices. It is clear that the illustrations in this latest release marry very well with the narrative. The two do not oppose each other but instead work in harmony when telling the story. The illustrations have an equally powerful effect on the reader as the narrative and dialogue do.
Passion
There is no doubt that, apart from the other factors present in this series, passion was demonstrated by both the plot, character development, illustrations, and underlying themes of the stories in this series. It’s very easy to pick up when a writer does not write about something they are passionate about. In the case of Geoff Johns, passion for his work was evident through the illustrations that were carefully selected for each frame along with the plot twists, dialogue, and overall arch of the story. It was meticulously thought out and presented.
Presentation
This section speaks for itself, as highlighted in the previous sections of this article. Most people have a favorite when it comes to a genre or the type of medium that interests them. The presentation of this story evokes an emotional response from the first page. It is achieving what it has set out to achieve and that is to engage and draw the reader in.
